Join Iva as you create a boudoir lamp where crowned fairies ride birds and frolic in the forest. You will work with decorative papers and trims to cover your lamp and create a magical time in the forest. Inside, the lamp will illuminate tiny fairies set among the moss covered ground and taking a quiet moment among themselves. You will learn to wire a low voltage plug-in lamp assembly to light up every detail, in addition to learning basic techniques of how to turn ordinary objects into an imaginary world.
Student will learn to mix paper, glitter, trims and ordinary objects to create a small scale lit theater in the round. In addition, they will learn to wire a low voltage lamp.
Materials Fee of $15 is due directly to the instructor at the beginning of class and will include decorative papers, figures, trims, embellishments, lamp parts, lamp base and housing.
Students must bring: scissors, exacto/sharp blade, cutting mat, wet tacky glue, Aleene’s Liquid Fusion glue (or similar non-flammable urethane glue for glass), glue stick, glue gun, pencil, pen, paper piercing tool, bone folder, tissue paper and bubble wrap for safe travel home.
Students should be comfortable working on small scale artwork, and be sure to bring reading glasses, if necessary for close work.
